Engendering Adda

This new section on WISCOMP’s Log-in Gender is envisioned as an ‘Adda’, a space for dialogic engagement and critical reflections on and around contemporary issues, through a gender lens. Adding ‘engendering’ or ‘feminist’ to Adda is an attempt to reclaim this space through questioning, reflecting, deconstructing and doing gender.

Through this new section, we hope to engage in conversations through book reviews, film reviews, documentaries, videos, interviews, opinion pieces or even guest contributions.

Please read the entries below to start the circle of conversation in the comments section of each post!

Logically explained and beautifully written. Tagore’s Shantiniketan was and will always be an ideal example of meaningful education. One architect-illustrator Mahafuj Ali ( MAli’s ) has designed a school in Lochinvar , New South Wales , Australia ,keeping Shantiniketan in mind . There is Rishi Valley in AP and up there on the dizzy heights of Leh , Ladakh , is SECMOL and all the three places impart deep and meaningful education in the most normal and natural way . Rote learning sometimes make the students claustroohobic , and easy preys of depression too….
My favourite line in the article – ” Even if pessimism of the intellect blinds our vision, optimism of the will should pave way for light amidst darkness. ….”

    1. Thank you! There are alternative forms of pedagogy for schools, colleges and other institutions which does provide some form of hope. I think that is the beauty of optimism, we need to compose verses in the present, for the future, we need to keep working, keep en-gendering, keep reinventing, reconstructing radical alternatives, keep reclaiming these spaces!
