What can I submit to Log-in Gender?

We are happy to accept writing (short blog posts, opinion pieces, poetry, academic pieces), art, photography, and short films/videos on the broad theme of gender, equity, inclusion and access in educational spaces.

How long should my piece be?

Short posts should be 300-500 words. Opinion pieces should be 500-750 words. Academic articles should be 1000 words (Note: Submit academic articles only after you have sent in an abstract and heard back from us.)

You are also encouraged to use art and photography to illustrate your piece, by using either freely available sources or by obtaining written permission from the artist or photographer whose work you would like to use for your piece. Clearly credit the creator in your caption.

Using visual aids is encouraged but not mandatory.

How should I cite other work in my written piece?

Please don’t forget to cite your sources. We prefer Chicago style referencing with in-text citation (author-date). We will be checking submissions for plagiarism.

What should I call/title my submission?

Please remember to use clear and evocative titles. Please punctuate the title correctly. You could use sites such as this one if you are unsure.

If your piece is on the longer side/deals with several distinct ideas, please use subheadings for greater clarity.

What kind of file format should I submit?

  • For written pieces in English, we accept .doc Word files.
  • For written pieces not in English, we require .doc Word files and PDFs.
  • For art, please submit high quality JPEGs or PNGs.
